Three ensembles of different styles will perform at this event.
The Counterpoint chamber ensemble joins the Green Mountain Chorus and the Chordination barbershop quartet. Counterpoint, founded by the legendary choral director and arranger Robert De Cormier in 2000, is now directed by Nathanial G. Lew. The repertory ranges widely, featuring folksongs from around the world, African-American spirituals, sacred music of many traditions, and concert works by classical composers of the past and our own age. The group has released 11 CDs.
For more than 70 years, men from Vermont and Quebec have sounded the chords of Barbershop harmony together as the Green Mountain Chorus. A unique form of a cappella singing, Barbershop employs close four-part harmony, and this Chorus livens it up with a little comedy and audience participation—to the delight of audiences of all ages.
Chordination is quartet of a cappella singers creating a musical experience primarily in the Barbershop Style.
